Why is it significant?
60,000 transitional shelters were built in 6 months! This was a result of cross-sectoral collaboration combining engineering and humanitarian expertise, and adopting a standard performance specification which allowed flexibility in material selection and design in response to local cultural preferences, availability of resources and the capacity of implementing agencies.
