Seattle and its seaport serve as the hub of economic and cultural activity in the US Pacific Northwest and a significant link to Asia and the Pacific Rim. The progressive city and its environs are home to some of best-known companies of today including Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon and a growing list of biotech firms. Aircraft manufacturer Boeing remains the region’s largest private employer. The University of Washington receives more research funding than any other public university in the US.

Arup projects include the award-winning Seattle Central Library, which is rated LEED® Silver. It is currently engineering the new headquarters campus for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
