The historic city of Winchester is the county town of Hampshire; a focus for business, the law and the arts in the south of England.
The city is home to many Arup projects, including The Brooks, a 7700m2 shopping centre with a three level basement and atrium for which the firm provided the structural engineering design.
Arup recently provided transport planning, geotechnics, air quality and noise assessment in support of an application for the redevelopment of a city centre site into a mixed-use development including a health centre, retail and residential.
Other local projects include specialist services such as the acoustic design of a performing arts space at St Swithun’s School and the Textile Conservation Centre for the University of Southampton. Acoustic consultancy services to Hampshire County Council have included several local landmark buildings including the Discovery Centre, the Public Records office and many school buildings.
