Arup attends 2008 World Economic Forum

06 Feb 2008

Arup Chairman, Terry Hill and Chris Luebkeman, Arup Director for Global Foresight, Innovation and Incubation, attended the 2008 World Economic Forum. The event was held in Davos, Switzerland from 23-27 January.

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organisation committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

At this year's forum, Arup joined public figures including Prime Ministers, Secretaries of State, Mayors, Senators and Congressman, as well as business leaders representing global firms. The event was also attended by selected social entrepreneurs, technology pioneers, and young global leaders.

Reflecting on this year's event, Terry Hill comments:

"At -17°C, amid snow-clad mountains of the Swiss Alps, we joined 2500 of the world’s top politicians, business leaders and NGOs to discuss top and topical issues ranging from sub-prime, credit crunch and recession that may come to affect us to matters such as climate change and renewables that certainly will."

"I found this year’s Forum to be even more useful than those I have attended in the past," comments Chris Luebkeman. "The World Economic Forum provides an incredible opportunity to learn first-hand from those who are key stakeholders making the decisions about our global business contexts."
