Arup has won two Grand Awards and seven Merit Awards at the biennial Green Building Awards 2010, leading the development of sustainable built environment in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific.
The award presentation ceremony was held on 3 November in Hong Kong. Six Grand Awards and 18 Merit Awards were given to buildings and research projects that demonstrate outstanding performance and contribution to the environment across the Asia Pacific region.
Arup’s work on Zhengbian New District Regional Strategy Plan (Zhengzhou City, China) was conferred the Grand Award in the Research & Planning – Hong Kong & Asia Pacific Category. The jurors were particularly impressed by the originality of our planning tool – a regional carbon audit framework for comparing and assessing various land-use options and greenhouse gas emission levels.
Sau Mau Ping South Estate wins the Grand Award in the New Buildings – Hong Kong Category. Arup engineers improved the ventilation of the housing blocks by setting opening angles of the windows and introduction of a wind scoop at the roof top.
