As a member of the scientific committee, Arup masterplanning team from Madrid took part in a conference on ‘Urban Port Waterfronts: A new generation of sustainable projects’ in Santander on 14 and 15 April.
A diverse range of specialists participated in the conference, organised by RETE (Association for the Collaboration between Ports and Cities) including specialists in urban requalification and city-port integration.
Experts highlighted the importance of dealing with port areas as a fundamental factor in the prosperity of maritime cities.
Flavio Tejada, leader of Arup’s masterplanning team in Europe, shared his experience in sustainable generation and strategic planning of projects such as Santander waterfront.
The project includes a holistic strategy for planning, management and implementation of a 60ha area that will eventually become the coastline of Santander´s South Bay.
Cliff McMillan discussed the participation of Arup in New York. Also at the event were some of Arup´s diverse clients and collaborators such as JAPDEVA, RSH, RPBW, Santos Municipality, APS and Zaera, who presented their port city regeneration models.
