Intelligent mobility debate at ITS Congress

31 May 2011

Arup’s intelligent transport systems (ITS) team will be presenting at the 8th ITS European Congress between 6 and 9 June in Lyon, France.

The Congress has a clear purpose – to debate the interfaces and interchanges of urban and inter-urban networks, to examine future technologies and to discuss the new solutions that will shape smarter transport systems.

Our input to technical sessions ranges from a discussion on the importance of developing appropriate strategies in advance of ITS deployment to the integration of fully electrical vehicles to the 'smart grid'.

The Congress sees David O’Keeffe attend his first Congress as Chairman of ITS Ireland. David is ITS Ireland’s representative on Europe’s Network of National ITS Associations, bringing him closer to the issues and challenges being faced by the European marketplace.

Arup will also be supporting ITS UK on their stand (C30 and C40) at the Cité Internationale Congress Centre.

“It’s great to be involved in moulding the future shape of our industry and Lyon looks set to be an exciting and forward-thinking Congress. The past 12 months has been a tough time for many industries and now is a good time for us to come together and collectively push for new and innovative solutions for smarter mobility”

– Tim Gammons, Director of ITS at Arup
