13 Jun 2011

Two members of the Arup family have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Terry Hill, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for services to Civil Engineering, while Jo da Silva, Director of Arup's international development team, received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to Engineering and Humanitarian Relief.

Terry Hill said, “I am honoured and delighted to receive the CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Receiving this award for services to civil engineering is a testament to the great team I have worked with over the years at Arup, as well as all the members of the profession who contribute so much to society in so many different ways.”

Jo da Silva, said, “It is a tremendous privilege to be recognised in the Honours List with an OBE. I hope this award will help focus attention on the important role engineers play in humanitarian relief and long-term international development programmes as we aim to build more sustainable and resilient societies for the future.”

Terry and Jo will attend Buckingham Palace later in the year to receive their awards.
