Pauline Truong wins the Dr Baden Clegg Award

09 Aug 2011

Arup civil engineer and geologist Pauline Truong was named winner of the 10th annual Dr Baden Clegg Award at the recent Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) WA Chapter presentation evening for her presentation ‘Impact of spudcan footprints on an offshore gravity base structure’.

This year’s event, held at Engineers Australia (Western Australia Division) on 12 July, showcased four finalists following a review of numerous abstracts by the AGS. Mira Lee, also from Arup’s Perth office, was selected as a finalist to present on the evening. Her presentation focused on the effective stress versus total stress analysis of undrained problems in geotechnical engineering.

All presentations were assessed on their technical content, presentation quality and presentation style. The judges were impressed with the very high standard of presentations given by both Mira and Pauline.

The Dr Baden Clegg Award is presented annually. It gives a platform for young geotechnical professionals (under 35) to present on a topic of interest to the wider geotechnical community and gain feedback from experienced colleagues.
