Women engineers shine at WiEBE awards

Arup received an award for its outstanding support of women in the engineering sector at the Women in Engineering and Built Environment (WiEBE) awards held in Johannesburg recently.

WiEBE was founded by the University of Johannesburg and Group Five to recognise and celebrate outstanding women in engineering and the built environment in South Africa.

Project manager, Hleziphi Mtshizana won the title of Most Promising Engineer. Hleziphi was lauded as an inspiration for future female engineers.

Head of interchange design Caroline Sohie and structural engineer Matilde Tellier were finalists in the category Excellence at Company Level. Caroline and Matilde were praised for exemplifying excellence in their contribution to the built environment.

The awardees noted that Arup had entered more candidates than any other.
