Columbia building named best 2011 higher education project

08 Nov 2011

ENR New York, a magazine focusing on the construction industry in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, has selected the Columbia University Northwest Corner Building as the best higher education/research project of the year.

Arup worked closely with architects Rafael Moneo Valles Arquitecto and Davis Brody Bond Aedas throughout the project. We contributed significantly to meeting key goals such as connecting the university to the surrounding neighborhood and reducing laboratory energy use.

Our scope for the LEED® Gold-certified building included mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural engineering. We also provided lighting design and consultancy in information technology and communication, fire/life safety, security, sustainability, and acoustics.
