Arup's Buildings Practice leader for the Australasia region, Peter Bowtell, said:

“It is an honour to receive this award, which is recognition for the hard work, innovation and ingenuity of the entire AAMI Park project team including Major Projects Victoria, Cox Architects and Planners, Grocon and Norman Disney & Young.

“AAMI Park was an incredible project to be a part of, and the focus for our structural, civil, turf, pitch, facade and pedestrian modelling design was on setting benchmarks in efficiency and sustainability. As a collaborative team we achieved some incredible results including a stadium which uses 50% less steel than traditional structural solutions.”

The other five projects lauded were:

“It’s fantastic to see our work honoured by the industry. Our success at these awards reinforces our quality of work, our design ethos, our innovation, expertise and technical excellence across everything we do.

“We are truly privileged to carry out the work we do and to receive recognition such as this emphasises the importance of what our industry does towards making a positive contribution to our communities.”
