De Rotterdam building in the Netherlands has been named one of the Best Tall Buildings in the world for 2014 by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

Designed by OMA/Rem Koolhaas, this unique building is conceived as a vertical city featuring three stacked and interconnecting mixed-use towers for offices, apartments, a hotel, conference facilities, shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The three towers reach 150m high and have a width of more than 100m with a gross floor area of approximately 162,000m2, making De Rotterdam the largest building in the Netherlands.

For this project we provided structural and building services, engineering advice and lighting design services to the client and professional team during the scheme design.

The submissions this year reflect the incredible diversity of tall buildings being built around the world, even more so, they reflect the dawning of a global recognition that tall buildings have a critical role to play in a rapidly changing climate and urban environment. ” Jeanne Gang Awards Jury Chair and founding principal of Studio Gang Architects

De Rotterdam will be now judged for the overall title of ‘Best Tall Building Worldwide’ on November 6th at the CTBUH 13th Annual Awards Symposium. The building competes with three other regional winners including The Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building in the United States, One Central Park, Sydney in Australia and Cayan Tower in the United Arab Emirates.
