Three Arup projects have won awards in the 2012 American Institute of Steel Construction IDEAS2 competition, which recognizes innovations in structural steel design.

Kansas City, Missouri’s Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts was awarded a Presidential Award of Excellence in Engineering and Architecture. The Presidential Award of Excellence, given at the discretion of the jury, is typically granted for either engineering or architecture, but not both.

In addition, San Francisco’s Robert I. Schroder Overcrossing received top honours among projects costing less than $15M. Seattle’s Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Headquarters received a National Certificate of Recognition.

The awards were announced during an April 18 ceremony at the AISC’s annual conference in Grapevine, Texas.
