On 23rd April, companies and organisations throughout Germany and the Netherlands offer young girls insights into technical professional fields to raise their interest in a technical career.

Arup invites groups of school girls to spend a day in their offices in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main and Amsterdam.

The program will cover presentations and workshops highlighting different disciplines from structural and façade engineering via building services to lighting design and acoustics. Additionally, experienced female engineers will talk about innovative and sustainable projects worldwide.

Girls' Day provides us with the opportunity to inspire female talent to look at the profile of an engineer and thus counteracting the predicted skills shortage in Germany and the Netherlands. ” Eva Hinkers Eva Hinkers Director

About Girls' Day

Girls' Day is an annual day of action, which serves to encourage girls to choose technical and scientific professions, and thus increase the percentage of female employees in these so-called "typical male professions". At the same time the predicted skills shortages should be countered for the future. Students from the 5th grade can take part.

Girls' Day in Germany is a project of the Centre of Excellence Technik-Diversity-Chancengleichheit e.V. In the Netherlands Girls’ Day was initiated by VHTO, a governmental educational expert platform.
