Arup Chairman, Gregory Hodkinson, joined global non-state actors to sign the "Paris Pledge", making a strong commitment to a safe and stable climate where temperature rise is limited to 2°C.

The new universal climate agreement was launched at COP 21 in Paris. The Paris Pledge for Action marks a critical step on the path to solving climate change and supports a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a safe level, while building resilience against those changes already occurring.

The Paris Pledge has already been signed by hundreds of cities, regions, businesses, investors, civil society groups, trade unions and other organizations from every sector of society around the world. The commitment highlights how dangerous climate change threatens the ability of future generations to live and thrive in a peaceful and prosperous world. The document also calls for strong action to reduce emissions and the risks of climate change and deliver better growth and sustainable development.

In order to ensure that the level of ambition set by the agreement is met or exceeded, the signatories will be taking concrete steps without waiting for the entry into force of the agreement in 2020.
