- Arup’s sustainability strategy for Dubailand World ensured that the client’s goals were met and identified potential cost savings of over $35m per annum
- Carbon emissions were reduced by 60m kg - equivalent to moving 10,000 cars off the roads
- Arup’s work created savings of over $90m through reduced infrastructure costs
Arup was appointed to create a sustainability strategy for a section of the Dubailand World site that included Legoland, Six Flags, Marvel, DreamWorks, Freej and the Central Island.
The aim of the strategy was to provide the client with cost-effective ideas and solutions that would enable them to create a sustainable development whilst ensuring that the comfort expectations of guests were met.
As this section of Dubailand World forms part of a larger site, it was important that any solutions identified would fit with the wider plans for sustainability and infrastructure. For this reason, the major focuses of the sustainability strategy were energy, waste and water.
