Arup has been commissioned to act as masterplanning and urban design consultant on the creation of a strategic development masterplan for the Vietnamese province of Ninh Thuan. The project represents a significant milestone in the firm’s planning business and consolidates Arup’s involvement in Vietnam.
Arup’s role in this challenging project is to enable prosperity in Ninh Thuan by developing a planning vision and formulating an implementable masterplan that embraces the principal of sustainable growth.
Clean power generation
Spread over 3,000km2 and located near the coast, Ninh Thuan boasts a year-round sunny and windy climate. Arup’s masterplan will utilise a climate that makes the province an ideal location for clean energy industries such as wind and solar power.
The study, scheduled for completion in 2010, will be wide-ranging. Arup plans to explore Ninh Thuan’s huge potential for development in areas as diverse as eco tourism, agriculture and industries such as mineral water and salt production.
Arup’s overall objective is to deliver viable planning and urban design solutions that are in line with Ninh Thuan’s ambitious economic development plans.
