Office Realtime

  • Office Realtime is a data visualisation tool that uses active data to guide sustainability-related behaviour change.
  • Culmination of two years of Arup research.
  • The tool is currently operational for all Australasian offices.

Office Realtime brings about sustainability awareness and behaviour change by presenting live data on any number of sustainability indicators.

The tool was developed by Arup’s Sustainability and Digital Innovation teams to support Arup Australasia’s Environmental Management System and Corporate Sustainability Policy.

Whether the desired sustainability measure is office copying and printing, computer use, energy and water consumption or daily cycling numbers, Office Realtime is able to display information in simple, engaging form to support an organisation’s environmental and sustainability objectives.

The implementation of Office Realtime has shown measurable positive impacts on office resource use and associated sustainable behaviours in areas such as travel-related carbon, cumulative paper use and energy consumption.

Understanding the most effective way to influence and maintain sustainable behaviours in the workplace remains a constant challenge for business. Arup’s Office Realtime offers a unique opportunity to bring about genuine awareness and behaviour change in this space.
