Arup was founded by Ove Arup in 1946. Today, we are 6,000 strong in the UK, working on local, national and international projects. We are a professional services firm with a focus on the built environment and we work closely and collaboratively with our clients to develop the solutions they need today – and tomorrow. Arup’s business in Manchester has contributed to the growth of the city for more than 60 years. Our office is now home to almost 500 engineers, planners, digital experts, and technical specialists, contributing to transformational projects across the region. We have led the redevelopment of iconic city landmarks, such as Manchester Town Hall, and been at the heart of delivering the Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD).

Our people provide strategic advice on major rail and highways projects to transform connectivity within the region. We have designed and partnered on major transport infrastructure, including the Transpennine Route Upgrade. Dedicated to sustainable development, we are proud to have contributed to green infrastructure initiatives to create vibrant, liveable spaces for communities and neighbourhoods across the city.
