Success at MCA Awards, 2011

11 April 2011

Arup has been recognised twice for its leading consulting advice at the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) 2011 Awards in London on 7 April.

In collaboration with De Montfort University, we scooped the Environment Award for our higher education carbon footprinting work which was praised for its efforts to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions on campus.

This project also won the inaugural The Times Award for Best Consultant/Client Team, which recognises and rewards successful client relationships. This recognises the excellent cooperation on their project which helped DMU identify savings of £350,000 and carbon emissions equivalent to 800t of CO2.

Gordon Wilkinson, Arup’s leader of consulting in UKMEA commented, “This is a fantastic achievement and a great credit to all the Arup teams involved. Being recognised at the MCA Awards is an exceptional accomplishment for Arup in terms of raising our profile in the Consulting arena and positioning us against all the major consulting firms.”

Professor Paul Fleming, DMU's director of sustainable development, said, “I am absolutely delighted with these awards which recognise our work with Arup to become the national leader when it comes to tackling carbon emissions in universities. This initial work has led to other joint work with Arup and we are now using that expertise to produce guidance on energy use for all universities. We truly are leaders in the field.”

In addition, we were Highly Commended in the 'Operational Performance in the Private Sector' for our work with Nexus on the reinvigoration of the Tyne & Wear Metro, and shortlisted in the 'People' category for our Midwifery Leadership Development Programme with the NHS East of England.
