Arup has been appointed by HS2 Ltd to provide preliminary designs for the HS2 terminus at Euston Station.

The redevelopment design will transform the station and support regeneration in the surrounding area.

The design will include a new terminus for HS2 and existing railway services, a new London underground ticket office, office and retail space, public spaces and community facilities with the aim of improving access, space and overall experience for all rail users and the local community. Arup’s preliminary designs will include architectural design by Grimshaw and logistical infrastructure development by Costain.

I am very pleased this key piece of design work for a redeveloped Euston Station has begun. Our long term vision for Euston Station is to provide the principal rail gateway for high speed rail services from London to the West Midlands, and onto the north-west and north-east of England and Scotland.Following a comprehensive selection process, we have awarded this contract to Arup, supported by Grimshaw and Costain, for their innovative approaches towards engineering, architectural design and construction logistics.Rebuilding Euston will inevitably cause significant disruption but we are committed to working closely with the London Borough of Camden and the GLA with the intention of agreeing a joint strategy for the Euston area and providing new social housing to replace any that is compulsorily purchased. This will also include engagement with local people, businesses and community representatives.
Alison Munro Chief Executive of HS2 Ltd

The redesign of Euston Station is a hugely exciting project for us, which builds on our work for HS2 Ltd over the last 2.5 years in developing route options and assisting with public consultation. We are looking forward to using our transport infrastructure expertise gained over many years of working on projects including St. Pancras International, Cross Rail, and King’s Cross, to create a design that will transform Euston and establish it as a landmark destination befitting the UK’s second high speed rail line. ” Colin Stewart Former Global Rail Leader, Arup
