An Arup-led masterplan has helped developer Chelsfield win the competition to transform the Silvertown Quays site in the Royal Docks and create a major economic hub for London.

Chelsfield, with partners Imagination Europe and First Base, have won the competition to transform the Royal Docks in East London. The masterplan for the 50-acre Silvertown Quays site, led by Arup, will create over 9,000 jobs and is estimated to create £3bn of economic benefit to the capital.

Malcolm Smith, Director commented: “This project win builds on the long working relationship Arup has with Stuart Lipton from the early days of Stockley Park and Broadgate, leading to Stratford City. The innovative proposals will create a compelling new destination for London that compliments the ExCel centre and the new connections to the O2 Arena.”
