The Mott MacDonald-Arup Joint Venture has won an award at the Autodesk Hong Kong BIM Awards 2013.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) was applied to facilitate the design of the Midfield Concourse at Hong Kong International Airport.

The joint venture is providing full design consultancy and construction support for a new Midfield Concourse to be built by the third quarter of 2015. With an area of 110,000m², this will provide an additional 20 aircraft parking stands.

The project team used a variety of 3D design software, including Revit and Navisworks. The latter was used as a common platform for showing and assessing information in 3D and also to help with advancing the complex 3D geometry design of a curvaceous roof of the concourse as well as identifying clashes.

Organised by Autodesk Far East Ltd, the Hong Kong BIM Awards celebrate building industry professionals and educators in Hong Kong who help to drive the transformation of the building industry through the usage of BIM and who help the industry to evolve and shape a more efficient and sustainable future.
