Hewlett Packard has recently opened a new 87,000ft2 Innovation Centre in Ballybrit, Galway.

The Innovation Centre will house 700 engineers, consultants and support teams currently employed by HP in Galway, working in software R&D, cloud innovation and business services for HP worldwide.

The new state-of-the-art facility has been built with flexibility and environmental sustainability features and fitted out to support the needs of HP employees into the future.

We provided civil and structural engineering consultancy services for the design and build of the modern facility, designed by Taylor Architects.

Confirming Galway’s status as a “Centre of Excellence within HP globally”, the company said the Innovation Centre would focus on software research and development, cloud technology and business service innovation.

With this investment, HP is redefining its future in Galway for the next 40 years. We are continuing to strengthen the footprint of HP in Galway through continued investment and transformation. ” Mark Gantly Managing Director, HP Galway

The opening coincided with HP’s 44th year in Ireland this year, having evolved from a predominantly manufacturing base into a diverse organisation that now boasts next-generation research development, financial services, customer services, sales and marketing.

Employing about 4,000 staff in Ireland, with facilities in Leixlip, Dublin, Galway and Belfast, HP was one of the first multinational tech companies to come to Ireland. Ireland has since gone from strength to strength in attracting investment from the tech sector.

The evolution of the HP business in Ireland is a great example and a practical case study for Ireland Inc. and is a positive reflection of the work of IDA Ireland.
