The first proton cancer treatment facility in Poland has officially opened in Cracow.

Cracow Cyclotron Centre is a critical medical and research facility forming part of the National Centre Hadron Radiotherapy. The centre is the first of its type in Poland and one of a few in Europe. Proton beam treatment, compared with standard radiation treatment, lowers the risk of radiation damage to healthy tissues and other side effects, what significantly increases the quality of life of patients.

The new centre in Cracow is equipped with two 360 gantries and is prepared for treatment of various types of cancers.

Our team in Cracow was responsible for SMEP design of the shielding bunker, which encloses the cyclotron, research area and treatment rooms. The project covered stages from concept design, up to the detail and workshop design.
