The new European Headquarters for Kerry Group's Global Technology and Innovation Centre has scooped the ‘Engineering Project of the Year Award’ at the Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards 2015.

Located in Naas, Ireland, this flagship facility serves as the centre of excellence for the region and gives access to the group’s scientific research, innovation and applications expertise across food, beverage and also pharmaceutical markets. Arup provided full engineering services on the project, alongside an experienced Irish design team of Arup, RKD Architects and Bruce Shaw who formulated the design for the state-of-the-art facility.

As sustainability was a key objective for Kerry, we targeted a LEED system Silver accreditation from an early stage. This involved significant commitment of financial investment and considerable design efforts to devise innovative solutions to satisfy the demanding technical and environmental requirements.

The project was delivered ahead of schedule in early 2015 and at 5% below the initial project budget. It is already a benchmark project both for large scale construction procurement and delivery techniques and also became a point of reference across the fields of building engineering and architecture.

The Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards celebrates the very best of Irish engineering. The awards recognise the high quality work of Irish engineers and engineering projects both in Ireland and abroad.
