On 20 April King Willem-Alexander opens the new housing for the Supreme Court of the Netherlands in the Hague.

The new building replaces three former locations and shows the paradox of the organisation: in the heart of society and at the same time a secluded area.

Our structural design enabled the open facade and the transparant appearance, which was crucial in winning the assignment. In the integral design, the voids offer a spacial experience as well as a solution in the building services design, saving technical space.

The Supreme Court is the highest court in the Netherlands in the field of criminal, fiscal and civil law. By placing all staff in one building, the Court expects to gain efficiency. The new building includes two court rooms, offices and a library.

The consortium 'De Poort van Den Haag' was responsible for the design and construction of the building, a collaboration between BAM, Kaan Architects, PGGM, ISS Integrated Facility Services, DGMR and Arup.
