Arup has just appointed Marc Lane as a new Associate to its Sydney office. He will be bringing back to Sydney his recent experience in urban design, policy development, transport planning and project delivery as Principal Urban Design Advisor for Transport of London.

Marc has worked extensively across Transport for London’s Surface transport projects to deliver better liveability across London. Marc’s experience on innovative proposals ranges from precinct interchanges, underground extensions and the urban integration of road tunnel portals on projects including Oxford Circus, Old Street and Colliers Wood. Most recently he developed the strategic case for transformation of Oxford Street in London, one of the world’s premier shopping streets, to the benefit of pedestrians and the public realm.

With so many strong transport and place-shaping proposals coming forward, Sydney is on the threshold of a once-in-a-generation transformation, on par with the grand projects of the 1909 Royal Commission, or the 1971 City of Sydney Strategic Plan. ” Marc Lane Associate

Cities team in Sydney has been working on city shaping projects such as Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation Program and Canberra Light Rail.

The team has also contributed to global research and reviews, including Arup’s recent publication Towards a Walking World, which provides exemplars of place making and walkability from cities around the world.
