Stories of Change

This exhibition is about design, architecture and our sense of community.

On show is a selection of some of the best entries by students in response to Arup’s Drivers of Change publication, which deals with leading issues affecting the future of the built environment. The competition is the third annual collaboration between Arup and the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, to provide students with the opportunity to display their work outside the degree-show circuit.

Entries were received for the three categories – film, architectural design and text – from as far afield as Detroit, Auckland, Milan and Nairobi. Students have responded to themes that all affect the future of our cities such as convergence, waste (mis-)management, an ageing population, water and migration.

Together they make up a show confirming student awareness of some of the most pressing 'drivers of change' – often warning of dystopian futures. The originality and creativity of their work, however, gives us hope for our cities of tomorrow.
