I am a senior geotechnical engineer with a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering. I have been working for Arup in Cardiff since 2013, specialising in the rail and flood risk management sectors.

Geotechnical engineers have a huge part to play in protecting people and property from the effects of flooding, which I believe is one of the most significant challenges facing the civil engineering industry today. I have a particular interest in improving existing flood defences, bringing them up to current standards of protection and I have led the design of such schemes across Wales and the West Midlands. This often requires an innovative approach but can offer a more sustainable and lower-carbon solution than wholesale removal and reconstruction.

In the rail sector, I am particularly proud of my work on The Greater West electrification between Bristol and Cardiff. As the Geotechnical CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer), I was involved throughout the project, overcoming challenging ground conditions and interfaces with Victorian infrastructure in Newport and Cardiff city centres.

I was proud to be recognised as an engineering hero in the 2021 Top 50 Women in Engineering Awards.
