Atrium 1 is a 55-metre commercial building located at the heart of Warsaw central business district. With more than 17,000m2 of leasable office space distributed in 16 floors, the building is the highest structure in the city built in prefabricated technology.
The design of the building was created in 3D and the services provided included structural and building services engineering, geotechnics, advanced energy modelling, MEP fit-out design and author’s supervision. We have also been responsible for the co-ordination of the LEED® certification process.
Project Summary
55% reduction of artificial lighting use
70%reduction of water consumption
70%reduction of total building energy consumption
The greenest building in Poland
As the main design priority was to construct one of the most sustainable buildings in Poland, a number of solutions were implemented to reduce the cooling and heating load and the water and power consumption. We also incorporated a double skin façade as well as a ground source heat exchanger covering significant percentage of the cooling demand, chilled beam HVAC system, PV panels, rainwater harvesting and grey water installation. The use of artificial lighting was reduced by 55%, whereas the use of water was reduced by 70%. The simulated total building energy consumption was reduced by 70% in comparison to reference building constructed in accordance with local regulations.
Thanks to the use of the most advanced solutions available, the building has received a LEED® Platinum certification.
