Conceptual design for the expansion of a container terminal.

Arup carried out a due diligence study and conceptual design for the proposed expansion of a container terminal located at the Izmir Bay which is planned to be privatised.

The study provided technical assessment of existing structures; preliminary design of proposed quays; technical advice on dredging and reclamation operations and costing of the phasing plan which was suggested by the client.

The proposed expansion works included dredging of 12km long navigation channel, reclamation of 40ha land to be used as container stacking area and construction of a 550m long new quay for third generation container ships.

Arup provided maritime engineering, geotechnical & seismic engineering and structural engineering design services.
