Porto Montenegro is a luxury mixed use waterfront development in the town of Tivat in Montenegro.
Arup has delivered the structural, mechanical, electrical, public health and civil engineering design for this complex that includes a marina and a hotel.
The Porto Montenegro project includes associated hotels and leisure facilities, in parallel with the redevelopment of the naval yard into a marina. The marina is capable of accommodating up to 850 yachts, including some of the largest super-yachts in the world.
The overall development size is over 300,000m² of accommodation, on a site of approximately 168 hectares. The buildings have generally been designed to reflect the typical local vernacular, with masonry cladding and pitched clay tile roofs. They relate closely to the jetties and quay walls of the proposed marina. The building design also takes into account of the high seismic activity in the area.
