Quasar Istanbul, Istanbul

Project management services for two 40-storey towers in Istanbul

Quasar Istanbul is a multi-use complex with an approximate 185.000m2 construction area designed by Emre Arolat Architects, located in Old Liqueur Factory Area in Mecidiyekoy/Istanbul. The project consists of two 40 floors high-rise buildings raised on a Podium Block and 7 basement floors with social areas and carpark. One of the towers is serving for Fairmont Hotel (which is the first Fairmont in Türkiye) with 210 rooms and 64 serviced apartments and the other tower (Quasar Residences) is including 128 residences and 45 home offices. The horizontal Podium Block with 4 floors, includes 19,000m2 of office space 49,000m2 of car parking and 9,000m2 for commercial units. The Old Liqueur Factory which is the main focus of the project, has been re-built with the approval of the Council of Monuments, according to the new seismic requirements and in accordance with the original design by Robert Mallet-Stevens which was unfortunately corrupted and changed in years.

We have mainly completed our tasks for Quasar Istanbul (Mecidiyeköy) Project, which we started with full scope Project Management services during design, tender and construction stages. Afterwards, we have also carried out Fit-out Design Management services for Fairmont Quasar Hotel and our architectural team has provided Executive Interior Architecture Services for the entire complex, based on the design we received from various international interior designers such as Marcel Wanders and Wilson Associates. Currently, we are in charge of Test & Commissioning Services and we are planning to finalize the works in March’18 and close out the project.

Refurbishing the liquor factory

The project also comprises the restoration and refurbishment of the existing historic liquor factory. Its city garden will be turned into a new international cultural, art and fashion centre, complete with statues and historical sycamores.

Designed by the French architect Robert Mallet Stevens as his sole masterpiece ever built outside France, the liquor factory will be re-built to be used as a museum and recreation centre. The state-of-the-art institution aims to inspire passion for learning and to become a powerful stimulus for the development of new ideas and relationships, promoting social progress and intellectual achievement.

First project with DGNB

This is the first project in Türkiye awarded with the pre-certification of the German sustainable building certification DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen), with a Gold (top) rating. DGNB is a German system that assesses buildings and urban districts which demonstrate an outstanding commitment to meeting sustainability objectives together with the credits for art and culture.
