Shangri La Bosphorus Hotel, Istanbul

Lender's technical advisory services for an historic building turned into hotel

Shangri-La Istanbul is a five-star luxury hotel in Istanbul with six floors below sea level. As the location was at sea level, the project was executed as a top-down construction.

The 186-room hotel is located in the financial and entertainment district of Besiktas, on the site of a former tobacco warehouse from the 1930s.

A historic building

Besiktas Tobacco Warehouse was built in 1929 after being designed by architect Victor Adaman and was one of the first industrial structures of Türkiye. After serving for many years as a warehouse the building was converted into a television factory until 1985.

Remaining empty for 20 years, in 2005 the building was bought by Tanrıverdi Holding who signed an agreement with Shangri-La Hotels to manage the Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul.

We provided technical consultancy services to the project for Akbank, advising the bank on the financial and physical progress, detailed budget and project plan analysis, and application of line of credit to the project.
