Valentino Ginza, Tokyo

High-end boutique for Italian fashion brand.

Arup was the project manager for the new flagship Valentino Boutique Japan in Tokyo, a joint venture between Italian fashion house Valentino SpA and Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co.

The Arup project management team led close collaboration between Valentino SpA, architects Antonio Citterio and Partners (both based in Milan) and the client, landlord, base building designer and other service providers based in Tokyo.

Acting as the communication hub for the project, Arup set up and monitored the project schedule, budget and negotiated all costs on behalf of the client.

The two-storey boutique has a total floor area of around 500m2. The architectural design uses a combination of ivory colours for interior surfaces and bronzed brass furniture to create a calm and sophisticated space.

Polished accessory shelves and illuminated shelf boards provide a backdrop for the merchandise, while the floors are connected by a spacious and warmly-lit staircase surrounded by further product displays.
