How to Get to the Cardiff Office


Local Bus

Local Bus Services – Cardiff Bus operates a number of bus services from Cardiff city centre to Cardiff Bay, which stop just outside the Arup office. The most frequent services are the numbers 7 and 8. The number 7 bus is a direct service from the southern end of St Mary Street (just outside the Wyndham Arcade). The journey takes approximately 10 minutes. The number 8 bus is an indirect route to Cardiff Bay from Cardiff Central Station (it can be found at stand W3). The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. The waiting time at the bus stop is likely to be about 7–8 minutes. The buses are generally reliable; however, occasionally the bus may stop outside Mermaid Quay/County Hall for 5–10 minutes.

Coach

Coach Services – National Bus Services operate a number of coach services to Cardiff Central Station.

Train

Cardiff Bay Station – There are frequent services (every 20 minutes) from Cardiff Bay Station to Queen Street (with connections to Cardiff Central Station). The journey to Queen Street takes just 3 minutes, with the journey to Cardiff Central Station taking just over 10 minutes. The station is about 5 minutes' walk from the Arup office.

Cardiff Central Station – Cardiff is only 2 hours from London by train. In addition, there are high-speed trains between most major cities and Cardiff. Direct trains to Cardiff also run from Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bristol, and Exeter.

Air

Cardiff has an international airport with flights from Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Dublin, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Belfast. Charter flights operate from Florida and Toronto during the summer and from many European destinations throughout the year. Heathrow and Gatwick airports have direct rail links with Cardiff.

Taxi

A number of firms provide taxis services from Cardiff city centre to Cardiff Bay. In addition, there are taxi ranks outside Cardiff Central Station (for bus and train links).


Bike/Foot

The Taff Trail runs from Brecon along the River Taff through Cardiff city centre to Cardiff Bay. This ends at the Oval Basin, less than 5 minutes' walk from the office. There is also a cycle and footpath, which runs along the A4232 from the Cardiff Bay Retail Park.
