Built in 2001, our award-winning sustainable office is the result of Arup's commitment to the West Midlands, a region we have called home since 1968. The ‘Arup Campus' is our second largest office in Europe and host to more than 800 employees of over 50 nationalities.
Over the years, Midlands teams have contributed to the regeneration of Birmingham through the development of Brindleyplace and the Bullring shopping complex. We formed an integral part of the design teams for Paradise Circus and Snowhill redevelopments and our collaboration with Birmingham City Council produced the award winning Eastside City Park, Birmingham’s first major park for 130 years.
Our advice to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and University of Birmingham has helped to underpin their emerging estates transformation. Most recently, we designed UK’s largest university arts and media broadcast centre at the Birmingham City University and created an ambitious masterplan for UK Central, which aims to create 77,500 new jobs and contribute up to the local economy.
From fire strategy design at Birmingham’s New Street station to the UK Autodrive autonomous vehicle programme in nearby Milton Keynes, Arup brings technical and management insight to innovative transport projects. This includes our extensive work on HS2 through Arup’s largest railway team in Europe, which based in our Solihull office. Working alongside large UK asset owners Highways England and National Grid, we actively support and inform their strategic direction.
Our world class expertise in areas including social infrastructure and energy has enabled Solihull-based teams to deliver solutions across the globe, including overcoming the structural and logistical challenges of constructing the Statue of Unity in India and assisting industrial clients such as Carlsberg and Rolls Royce with delivery of advanced manufacturing facilities all over the world.
