Arup is responsible for some of the most iconic infrastructure projects across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Regarded as an industry leader, we push the boundaries of thinking in design to create increasingly innovative project solutions.

We have roles available in the following areas:

Civil engineering

Our civil engineering specialists plan, build and own an extraordinarily diverse portfolio from site developments to water systems, and from energy facilities to transport networks.

Housing essential technical, design, project management and community engagement skills, our civil engineers has been at the heart of projects spanning highways, rail, property, science and industry, energy, water, aviation, maritime, international development, and urban development sectors.

Through our work developing surface water management plans, coordinating utility strategies, managing site investigations, resolving earthworks challenges and designing roads and public realm, we are able to shape the built environment in a way that balances the needs of society with the limitations of our planet, in turn tackling the issue of sustainable development.

Civil Structures

Arup is an industry leader, working with a wide range of clients on innovative design projects of the highest risk and impact on civil and infrastructure design.

Our civil structures team specialise in the design and strengthening of all structures in the built environment, such as bridges, tunnels and airports

Digital engineering

We bring together digital capability with specialist depth in technical engineering domains to provide digital strategy, services, and solutions that meet our clients’ current and emerging needs. We achieve this through our deep commitment to ensuring a resilient and sustainable world, underpinned by our founding social values. We are looking for people with software engineering, programming, data engineering, building information modelling (BIM), geographic information systems (GIS), visualisation and gaming.

Energy

Countries around the world are tackling huge changes to the way we generate, distribute, consume and store energy.  We work with clients to tackle these challenges and shape a better world through efficient, affordable and sustainable sourcing of energy, its dispatch and use. We are looking for people interested in hydrogen, battery and pumped hydro energy storage, renewable energy, and the economic and technical challenges associated with connecting these emerging technologies into our existing systems.

Environment and Ecology

We work with clients to provide environmental expertise across the full lifecycle of their projects. Our environmental specialists and ecologists deliver environmental assessments, approvals and permits, ecological field surveys and environmental management for a range of project types, including transport infrastructure, energy, water and waste.  We are looking for people with a background in ecology, environmental science, engineering, planning or management.

Geotechnics and engineering geology

We drive cutting-edge understanding and technology on complex ground conditions and soil and rock behaviours for infrastructure and building works, to assist the growth of cities.

Highways

We help clients plan, produce and predict the shape of the world’s highways – from initial investment advice, to design and research into new mobility systems.

Maritime engineering

Changes in waterborne trade and transport needs, growing urban pressure on coastal environments, and sea level rise means that ports, governments and communities must constantly adapt. We bring specialist skills and experience in these fields to help our clients sustainably solve these challenges through the full lifecycle of maritime infrastructure planning, design, delivery and management.

We expand the boundaries of design and performance by understanding materials better. Our teams have deep experience in concrete, metals, glass, stone, brick, timber and composites as well as in construction, manufacturing processes and product design.

Rail engineering

Our rail teams have grown significantly in recent years, taking advantage of flagship rail projects shaping our cities. Our skills encompass every element of rail engineering from high-level planning to detailed design and specialist expertise in signalling and track design (permanent way), power and operations. We are looking for people with an interest in the civil rail industry, as well as people with a mechanical, electrical and systems engineering background.

Sustainability

The planning, design and construction of sustainable infrastructure is of vital importance in developed and developing countries and in rural and urban areas, as it supports and connects our communities.

Water engineering

We see water in context. From delivering water infrastructure to advising on natural catchments, we consider commercial, economic, environmental and social implications.

Resource and Waste Management

As global population expands, and we become ever more reliant on city living, our resource and waste management infrastructure must improve.  From circular economy principles, recycling and recovery of ocean plastics through to energy from waste technologies our resource and waste management team combines engineering expertise with environmental and commercial expertise to solve global challenges.  We deliver some of the biggest projects in the sector in Australia and are developing our business into Asia.  There is opportunity to work around the Arup world on some of the most pressing resource and waste management issues. We are seeking passionate, driven individuals to join our team.
