We fully understand that when you're starting out, you're hungry to explore possibilities. That's why the Graduate Development and Summer Vacation programs we run in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand are filled with opportunities to discover all that Arup has to offer: a fantastic launch pad for your career!

During your time at Arup, you will collaborate on important projects. Responsibilities vary depending on position but generally include:

  • Working closely with senior engineers on multiple projects

  • Assisting in design, analysis, research and report writing

  • Participating in interdisciplinary meetings.


Graduate program

The Graduate Development program is a two-year program covering a mix of formal and on-the job-learning, designed to ensure you have the skills for a successful career, and to build your professional network. Applications are open to candidates who have completed their studies, or will be completing their studies in the year they apply.

Summer vacation program

Our summer vacation program is 12 weeks of paid experience over the summer university break. You will have the opportunity to contribute to Arup’s ground-breaking projects, while receiving a mix of on-the-job and professional development training and building your network with the best in the business. By being part of the program, you will also be automatically considered for a graduate role, putting you ahead of the pack! Applications are open to students in their penultimate year of study.

We hire great people, a few characteristics we look for include:

  • Studied/studying in a field relevant to the team you are applying for

  • Meet work rights requirements for chosen country – for Australia and New Zealand roles we accept applications from Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents

  • Prior project and/or internship experience

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team

  • Self-motivated, innovative thinker and willing to take on new challenges

  • Well-rounded people, with extra-curricular interests and most importantly a passion for the work we do.
