It is up to us to create an organisation which will allow gifted individuals to unfold" ”Sir Ove Arup Founder
We take your development as seriously as you do. After all, your reputation helps us build ours, so we’ll support your professional and personal development as long as you’re with us.
Your first five days
We hold a residential welcome event for new graduates each September. Here you’ll learn more about the firm, meet your colleagues from the UKMEA region, expand your network through all kinds of social activities, and focus on any specialist knowledge you’ll need for your new role.
Experts and skills networks
Our colleagues are experts in all kinds of areas. When you join us, you join one of the brightest networks around. We’ll help you tap into our global team and help you find the specialist knowledge you need.
Training for life
From the moment you join us, you’ll have access to hundreds of training opportunities. These cover everything from personal development and presentation skills to improving creative thinking and understanding the Arup culture. As your career progresses, you might choose to develop your interests further by enrolling in Arup University, where you can study modules at doctoral, masters and professional levels.
We also offer accredited training schemes linked to professional bodies to support your continuous personal development. Depending on your chosen function, you could work towards a chartered engineer, corporate finance or other professional qualification.
As part of your development, you could be placed on secondment, working for manufacturers, contractors, specialist suppliers or other relevant academic or industrial institutions. These can be arranged around the UK, and sometimes overseas.
To help you network around the world and tap into our global expertise, you can apply to work overseas. You’ll meet colleagues and clients from different cultural backgrounds and gain an understanding of the values of the firm. Your placement could last from a month to a few years once you’ve gained some experience in the UK.
