Dervilla, a civil engineer, is a former deputy chair of Arup Group.
Prior to serving as deputy chair, Dervilla led our UK, India, Middle East and Africa region. A recognised leader of complex projects, Dervilla played a central role in the engineering design of Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal, Dublin Airport’s Terminal 2, and Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. A fellow of multiple engineering institutions, in 2024 Dervilla was honoured with a damehood of the British Empire. She holds honorary doctorates from University College Dublin and Imperial College London, and has been a long-standing champion of engineering as a profession and of the need for more women and girls to study engineering.
