Kate West is Chief Officer, Business & Markets for Arup’s Asia Pacific (APAC) Region, responsible for the growth and diversification of Arup’s business into new market sectors across East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Committed to leading with social purpose and driving positive change in the industry and with clients, her ambition is to help shape and create more resilient, liveable places with an end-to-end approach to sustainable development.
With a background in engineering and architecture, Kate has worked in a range of leadership roles in Australia, the UK and Ireland. Her expertise extends to advising clients and government partners on large-scale city shaping infrastructure projects—spanning transport, energy, health, and city precincts—from concept to delivery.
Kate is a Chartered Engineer and a regular speaker at industry events, presenting on topics including sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy infrastructure, women in leadership, STEM skills and specific projects. She is an advocate for flexible working and a mentor for women and men across the industry.
