Lau Ching Luan is Managing Principal for Arup in Southeast Asia.
A dynamic and influential leader, Lau works closely with our team in Southeast Asia to bring together the full breadth of Arup’s services to create holistic solutions for our clients. He is passionate about expanding Arup’s influence in transformational markets such as renewable energy, manufacturing and data centres, as well as helping clients embrace sustainability in ways that suit their needs.
Lau has worked extensively in Southeast Asia over the last decade on major projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. He leverages his deep knowledge of the local landscape, market opportunities, and deep networks within the region to deliver tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of clients.
Lau has more than 25 years' experience working with public and private sector clients providing advisory, planning and design leadership on high-profile urban transport and city-shaping developments. He has played critical roles in expanding urban rail networks in Singapore, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City, delivering Singapore’s first multi-modal transportation corridor, designing energy and wastewater infrastructure and addressing the strong demand for data centres in Malaysia.
Before moving to Asia, Lau was based in London, successfully delivering projects globally across sectors – from rail and aviation, to commercial, educational and residential.
