Penny Cheung joined Arup in 2001 as a structural engineer and currently serves as a director leading the Shanghai office, China Central Group, and mainland China. He possesses extensive experience in leading large-scale project engineering design and management, such as mixed-use developments, super high-rise buildings, long-span structures, and cultural architecture.
His notable projects include the Shanghai Xujiahui Centre, Hangzhou Raffles City, Chongqing Raffles City, and Chongqing International Land-Sea Centre. Several of these projects have received industry recognition, such as the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Global Awards for Best Tall Buildings and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards.
Currently, Penny Cheung is leading a multidisciplinary group, including planning, architecture, engineering, and specific consultancy, and is dedicated to promoting sustainability and digital transformation in China. Through sharing forward-looking insights and practical solutions, he contributes to the sustainable development and enhancement of cities.
