Peter is Arup’s Global International Development Leader. He is a development economist and governance expert whose varied career has focused on promoting sustainable economic development in the world’s emerging markets. Peter’s particular interest lies in building public sector capability to deliver complex projects and inclusive growth.
Over the past 16 years Peter has worked in over thirty countries, providing advice and capacity building to governments on growth, infrastructure delivery, energy transition and governance. He has also advised international financial institutions, donors, foundations and private sector clients on financing projects across the Global South.
Peter is a Fellow at the Harvard Building State Capability Programme, where he contributes to thought leadership and teaching. Prior to Arup, Peter led the global Growth & Energy practice at Oxford Policy Management, was Director of Advisory Projects at the Harvard Center for International Development, Country Head for Liberia for the Tony Blair Institute, senior advisor at Infrastructure Development Partners and director of external affairs at the think tank Demos. He has degrees from London School of Economics, Harvard Kennedy School and Schumacher College, and is a Fulbright Scholar.
