After coronavirus (COVID-19): tools
As designers and engineers, when we confront a new problem we always seek to develop a tool equal to the task. From design and layout to customer demand, the pandemic has challenged many assumptions. We’ve developed tools powered by digital insights and human intelligence, to shape a better future.
Arup Space Explorer
Space Explorer is an office layout planner that models people’s movements in buildings, lets you visualise the risks, so your people and customers can return in confidence and safety. It combines Arup's MassMotion software with digital representations of workplaces to provide highly accurate models.
Physical distancing will be with for us for a while to come. MassMotion, Arup's crowd simulation software, now models COVID-safe behaviour, revealing implications for many different services, from transport networks to retail malls.
Arup Virtual Engage
Arup Virtual Engage allows public consultations and virtual exhibitions to be carried out using online platforms, bringing more of the public onboard, improving decision making. Audiences can access information, view maps and drawings, watch scheme fly-throughs, navigate 3D models and share feedback from any location at any time.
CareBox: modular healthcare expansion
Arup’s CareBox is a series of design guidelines for scalable, modular and rapid solutions to solve the problem of limited hospital capacity. It can be quickly transported, deployed and implemented to provide additional capacity in a range of settings, from existing healthcare campuses to conversion of existing facilities.
Neuron: AI-powered health screening tool
Neuron is Arup's AI powered smart building console. It is an integrated ‘BIM (Building Information Modelling) + IoT + Analytics’ platform for smart buildings. The platform has been upgraded to offer thermal imaging scans, screening visitors upon entry, in order to help identify that at risk of spreading potential infection.
Arup Inspect is a digitised approach for asset inspection data capture, reporting and visualisation. Designed to revolutionise data capture – Arup Inspect uses various digital tools including virtual reality and 360′ panoramic image capture, to shorten inspections, automate data capture and reporting, whilst improving data quality and accessibility.
