Astra Tower – At 270m, it is one of Indonesia's tallest buildings

Arup has been shaping Indonesia since the 1970s. Our experience in tackling the urbanisation challenges faced by the country has made us the engineers, designers, planners and strategic advisors of choice for many local and international clients.

Drawing upon extensive expertise from our local team and global network, we create liveable cities, connect communities through resilient infrastructure and design high performing and seismic resilient buildings.

We are proud of our portfolio of work which includes some of the country’s early landmarks: Jakarta’s Peak Twin Towers and Menara Jamsostek, Sumatra’s Siak River Bridge and the Shangri-la Hotel in Surabaya.

Today we continue to shape the country’s buildings and infrastructure through projects such as the Greater Jakarta Commuter Rail Revitalisation, Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail Transit Oriented Development at Karawang and Tegalluar, Probolinggo LNG terminal in East Java, Bandar Lampung Water Supply Scheme in Sumatra, and Menara Astra in the heart of Jakarta CBD.

Arup has also been involved in Climate Change and Resilience work in Indonesia, reviewing Semarang as part of the 100 Resilient Cities programme, and in housing reconstruction programmes post-tsunami Aceh.
