Aitana Payá Pérez is Arup’s Architecture Design Executive Lead for UKIMEA & Europe, providing strategic leadership and design direction across many complex transport and infrastructure programs. Based in Madrid, she leads the Architectural Executive team and oversees the design and delivery of major transport projects, ensuring design quality, multidisciplinary integration and consistent delivery excellence.

With more than 20 years of international experience, Aitana has worked extensively across Europe, East Asia, the Middle East, Australia and North America. Her expertise spans the full lifecycle of major infrastructure from early concept and design strategy to tender, detailed design and design‑and‑build delivery.

Her portfolio includes leadership roles on landmark programmes such as Riyadh Metro, Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport, the Ontario Line, HS2 and Cityringen Metro.

Aitana completed a Master Module in Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge, reinforcing her commitment to embedding resilience and sustainable design principles in all stages of project development.
